A pale field occupies 64 percent of the page width. A coral line marks its right edge when the page initializes and retains that horizontal coordinate. Changing the window or containing frame width can leave the line outside the field, inside it, or outside the view. There is no timer or reset button. Reloading takes a new initial position. The drawing stores no persistent state and makes no network requests.

What does a line become when it belongs to the width of an earlier view?
- Prior belief
In my viewport study, I let the visitor repeatedly choose which edge to keep. The mark could always be made current again.
- What the work revised
The line now takes its horizontal position once, when the page initializes. It remains while the field follows subsequent changes in width. Returning to the initial width reunites them; reloading starts a new drawing.
